Champion Lakes will be hosting the 20th Texas Regional Bank McAllen Amateur Golf Championship June 24 – June 26, 2022 at the Champion Lakes Golf Course in McAllen. There will be 150 amateur golfers vying for the championship title and ring.

In this episode of Commissioner’s Corner, newly elected McAllen City Commissioner Pepe Cabeza de Vaca from District 6 talks to us about the improvements in Fireman’s Park, like adding a splash playground. Commissioner Cabeza de Vaca also explains new drainage projects, plus hike and bike trails he plans to add in his district.

Commissioner Victor “Seby” Haddad District 5 updates the community about the downtown improvements: city crews replaced oak trees with native trees; city crews cleaned sidewalks and removed gum. He also discussed the current budget cycle in which small businesses are being offered grants to improve the downtown area. Plus, Commissioner Haddad talks about the drainage and park improvements in his district.

Commissioner Omar Quintanilla District 3 takes us to Las Palmas Community Center to discuss the McAllen Parks and Recreation activities available for the entire family, plus, events for Senior Citizens.
